A renewed and high impact approach that BYD is currently employing to assert its presence in India is through registration of new design patents. In September it applied for a patent on the Bao 3 EV, in October it applied for another one covering the Denza N9 PHEV. These developments are appearing prior to the Bharat Mobility Global Expo scheduled for January, 2025 to which BYD has already committed itself.
Yet, the Chinese automaker has not publicly stated whether these two EVs will be displayed at the event.
Denza N9: A Luxury PHEV with Exceptional Power and Design
The Denza N9 is a full import PHEV from BYD owned Denza, a brand catering itself exclusively to the NEVs segment. It has a lot of power and design and it will be a competitive force in the high-end electric vehicle segment. Here are some key points that you should know about Denza N9:
Brand: Denza, owned by BYD, a luxurious NEW brand located in Shenzhen city of China.
Dimensions: Overall dimensions: up to 5.2 meters in length, up to 3.1 meters in wheelbase (similar in size to Mercedes GLS).
Powertrain: It is a collaboration between a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine of 206 horsepower and an electric motor.
Electric Power: Front-axle power and the two rear wheel powers are both 924 horsepower.
Battery: 47kWh Blade-Cell battery which allows an electric only range of up to 165 km.
All-Electric Version: Same three-motor configuration and the output has been estimated to reach up to 965hp.
Bao 3: A Robust Electric SUV for Off-Road Adventures
The Bao 3 is an electric SUV that was created by the BYD Fangchengbao Company that is dedicated to creating off-road automobiles. Located a step higher than the Atto 3, it provides strong running and multipurpose hull. Here are some key points that you should know about Bao 3:
Subsidiary: Basically, they are Fengsheng which has been an independent off-road brand Fangchengbao Caoheji of BYD Automobile.
Design: The Atto 5 is based on the Super 3 concept car; 4.6 meters long, slightly higher than the 4.4-meter segment An Atto 3.
Powertrain: Comes with front (149hp) and rear (299hp) motors which imitates the 4WD mode.
Performance:
- 0-100 kph in 4.9 seconds.
- Top speed of 201 kph.
Patents: Encompasses a design patent for a relative with a carrier mounted on roof.
BYD’s Strategic Push in India with Luxury NEVs
Consequently, the company is asserting its position in India through appropriate registration of design patents and identifying luxury-oriented NEVs. Denza N9 PHEV is the luxurious sedan with excellent petrol magnetic advertisements and excellent additional advantage’s electric ability, Bao 3 SUV possesses more powerful off-road adsorption power.
These vehicles could have an import role to play in demonstrating BYD Automobile’s technology and increasing its brand presence when it attends the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in India.
